Hiraya, an old Filipino term which means "the fruit of one's dreams, wishes and aspiration", is the name this group has chosen as we project our goals, dreams and aspirations towards a better and healthy community. As the group journeys through the challenges and hardships, we always keep in mind that whatever we do is for the betterment of Dulian.

Barangay Dulian, Upper Pasonanca is one of the 38 barangays on the West coast of Zamboanga City, located approximately 11 km from the city proper and with a total land area of 9.120 km². The barangay has four (4) zones which are Savana y Coco, Dulian, Bandera, and Lumbang, each with their own respective zone leaders.

Despite the different backgrounds, experiences and personality that each member of the group has, they came together as one family and joined hands for their main goal: To improve the health status of Barangay Dulian. The team wants the community to grow and develop, they desire for the community to be healthy and problem-free as much as possible, and they wish that whatever interventions there may be, it will last even without their presence.

Team Hiraya is composed of 7 wonderful and aspiring student doctors: an extravagant and jovial model with a degree in BS Nutrition and Dietetics (Khartinie Abbi); three loud, fierce, scrupulous and persevering fighters with a degree in BS Biology (Devee Faye Carpio, Francis Fabian and Angelika Vasquez); and three well-rounded, proficient and always reliable Nurses (Gada Jainalabidin, Hanan Samsuya and Patrick Furigay) who set aside their differences to achieve their united goal.

 

As Henry Ford said, “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success". With the guidance of our Almighty God, teamwork, and perseverance, we will make our Hiraya happen.
