Preventing diseases begins with a community's commitment to self-education. Recognizing the local health challenges, the team launched a series of health education initiatives both within and beyond the community to reduce stigma and correct misconceptions. In collaboration with the Department of Education, a licensed dentist was invited to Dulian Elementary School to assess students' dental health and educate mothers on proper oral care. The team also provided health education on mental health and reproductive health to grades 5 and 6 students at the same school.
To address solid waste management issues, the team conducted health seminars and refresher exams for 4Ps members. Additionally, educational materials, including a "Mother's Reminder" and other IECs (Information, Education, and Communication) materials, were distributed to mothers to raise awareness about Acute Gastroenteritis.
Moreover, an anti-smoking campaign was conducted at Zamboanga City State Polytechnic University, where college students received health education on the harmful effects of smoking.
