Vaccination Roll Out Campaign

Updated: Mar 27, 2023

COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic greatly affected and even claimed many lives. It forced several businesses and tourism industry to temporarily shut down, schools to transition from face-to-face mode of learning to virtual classes, and challenged the medical field. The approximately two (2) years of the said catastrophic event put a toll on everyone's way of living; may it be adults, teenagers, or even a child. With this, the vaccines are made available to boost one’s immunity and prevent death from happening wherein 70% of the total population must be vaccinated for the herd immunity to occur. As we continue our battle against this pandemic and journey towards a covid-free environment, we, as medical students, are in one with the science community and other health workers in advocating the importance and need of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Together with Sta. Maria Vaccination Team headed by the ever-supportive community preceptor of the group, Dr. Janina Kong, Team Hiraya participated in the vaccination roll out both for adult and pediatric population against COVID-19 in Barangay Dulian which was held at Dulian Elementary School last April 08, 2022. The team was assigned in assessing and briefing those who are to be vaccinated.

As of May 04, 2022, 41.2% or 105 individuals have received two (2) complete doses and 7.8% or 20 individuals are partially vaccinated in the pediatric population ages 5 to11 whereas 82% or 132 individuals have received two (2) complete doses and 18% or 29 individuals are yet to be vaccinated in pediatric population ages 12 to 17. In addition, 93.4% or 680 individuals have received two (2) complete doses or one (1) dose if Johnson & Johnson (JJ) was administered in the adult population (ages 18 years old and above).
